I've had experience with many providers during a lifetime of pain (30+ surgeries). I've had an incredible experience here. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and helpful but most of all they are compassionate. They have been amazing navigating confusing insurance issues. Dr Ahmed is friendly and upbeat and has skillfully helped manage the pain from very messed up shoulders.

Pain Management in Fort Mill, SC: What to Expect

If you are searching for pain management in Fort Mill, SC, you probably already know the frustrations: long waits for a specialist, hospital facility fees, and treatment plans built around medication rather than a diagnosis. Advanced Sports & Spine opened its Fort Mill office to bring the same non-surgical, non-opioid care we provide in Charlotte and Huntersville to patients south of the state line.

A Board-Certified Physiatrist Who Diagnoses and Treats in One Place

Dr. Usman Ahmad is a board-certified physiatrist and pain management specialist with fellowship training in interventional pain management. He is an expert in regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy, PRP therapy and advanced interventional techniques. Because he both diagnoses the source of your pain and performs the procedure to treat it, there is no referral chain and no rotating between providers.

Regenerative Medicine in Fort Mill, SC

Fort Mill is our regenerative medicine hub. For patients with joint degeneration, tendon injuries or sports-related damage who want an alternative to surgery, Dr. Ahmad offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and stem cell therapy. Both use the patient's own blood or cells, processed in our office with FDA-cleared equipment under minimal manipulation guidelines, and are injected under image guidance so the concentrate reaches the exact area of injury. Regenerative treatments are typically self-pay, and financing is available.

Interventional Pain Treatments Available in Fort Mill

Alongside regenerative care, the Fort Mill office offers our full range of non-surgical interventional treatments:

All injections use fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance and are performed in our Fort Mill office. You will not be sent to a surgery center or hospital.

Common Conditions We Treat

We treat the full spectrum of musculoskeletal and nerve pain, including back pain, neck pain, spine pain, knee pain, hip pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, wrist pain, ankle pain, foot pain and head pain. Athletes and active adults can also read about our sports medicine care.

Our Fort Mill Office on Crisanto Avenue

The Fort Mill office is located at 130 Crisanto Ave, Suite D, Fort Mill, SC 29715, a few minutes from Interstate 77. We serve patients across Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill, Indian Land, Lake Wylie, Baxter Village and the wider York and Lancaster County area, so there's no need to drive into Charlotte. Free parking is available directly outside the office.

New patients are seen in Fort Mill on Tuesday mornings, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. If you need an appointment on another day, you can also be seen at our Charlotte office on Providence Road, about 20 minutes north on I-77, or at our Huntersville office. To confirm coverage, call (704) 542-3988 or book online and our team will verify your benefits before your visit.

Fort Mill Pain Management: Frequently Asked Questions

What patients ask most before their first visit.

Where is your pain management office in Fort Mill, SC?

Our physical address is 130 Crisanto Ave, Suite D, Fort Mill, SC 29715. The office is conveniently located a few minutes from Interstate 77, with free parking directly outside.

What insurances do you accept?

Dr. Ahmad is in-network with most major insurance companies. If you provide your insurance information before your new patient appointment, our team will contact your insurer and complete a benefits check. Generally, a co-pay is your only charge on a new patient visit, and you'll be notified in advance of any other costs.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

It's a quick process. We simply need your details and insurance information, then we book you into the next available Tuesday morning in Fort Mill. If you'd prefer to be seen sooner or on a different day, same-week appointments are usually available at our Charlotte office.

What types of procedures are done at this practice?

We are a non-surgical, non-opiate interventional pain management practice in Fort Mill, SC, offering a diverse range of services. Dr. Ahmad will do a thorough exam of your area of complaint, provide a complete diagnosis and recommend the best course of action to help eliminate your pain. Some of our interventional services include regenerative medicine using PRP and stem cell therapy, and interventional pain treatment for joint relief, spine treatment and arthritis using trigger point injections, selective nerve root blocks, facet injections, radiofrequency ablation and more.

What treatment options are there other than medication?

At Advanced Sports & Spine, our focus is on advanced pain management so you won't have to depend on traditional medications that only manage symptoms rather than address the root cause of the pain. Depending on your diagnosis, options include image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation, nerve blocks, shockwave therapy and regenerative treatments such as PRP and stem cell therapy.

Will I always see the same provider?

Yes. The physician who examines and diagnoses you is the one who performs your procedure and sees you at follow-up visits. Unlike clinics where you rotate between providers, your care stays with one doctor.

Are you affiliated with a hospital?

No. Advanced Sports & Spine is a private practice and is not affiliated with any hospital facility. We are a non-facility-fee office, so our patients pay less than they would for the same procedure performed at a hospital.

How much does it cost if I don't have insurance? Do you accept cash or offer financing?

The cost depends on two main factors: how severe your condition is and how many joints or areas of the body you want treated. Dr. Ahmad and his team can answer this more precisely after your initial examination and review of your diagnostic findings. Yes, we accept cash, and we offer financing options through CareCredit and Advance Care, including low monthly payments and interest-free plans for qualifying patients.

If I receive an injection, do I need a driver?

For most joint injections, a driver is not needed. For spinal procedures and PRP injections, we recommend bringing a driver. Your physician will confirm what applies to your procedure when it is scheduled.

How long before I feel the effects of an injection, and how long does relief last?

Steroid injections can take up to five days before you notice the effect, depending on the condition. Relief from facet injections and epidural steroid injections typically lasts up to about 90 days, though every patient responds differently and relief may be shorter or longer. A medial branch block usually lasts about 24 hours and is a diagnostic test to determine whether radiofrequency ablation is right for you; you return the next day with a pain diary. Radiofrequency ablation can provide relief for six months to a year.

What medication is used for the injection, and what are the side effects?

Joint and spine injections usually contain a corticosteroid and a local anesthetic. Any procedure that breaks the skin carries a small risk of bleeding or infection; those risks are minimised because we use image guidance and standard sterile procedures. If you have diabetes, a steroid injection can raise blood glucose for three to four days before it returns to normal. Steroids given close to the skin can occasionally cause slight discoloration or dimpling, which resolves with time. Your physician will go through the risks and benefits with you before any procedure.

Where are the injections performed? Do I go to a surgery center?

We perform our pain management procedures in our Fort Mill office. You do not go to a surgery center or hospital. We use ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance to ensure each injection reaches the precise target.

What is PRP therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a non-surgical regenerative treatment for many sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. A small sample of your blood is concentrated to isolate the platelets, which are then injected into the injured area under image guidance to support the body's own healing response. Read more about PRP therapy.

What is stem cell therapy?

Stem cell therapy uses mesenchymal cells taken from your own body to treat injuries, pain and damaged tissue. It is a non-surgical, non-opioid procedure performed in our office. Read more about stem cell therapy.

Where do the PRP and stem cells come from?

From you. The PRP and stem cells are taken from the patient's own blood or tissue. The equipment Advanced Sports & Spine uses to process them is FDA-cleared for that use, and we follow the FDA's minimal manipulation guidelines.

How is the PRP procedure done, and how long does it take?

Dr. Ahmad uses the Angel System to produce the concentration of PRP needed for your treatment. It is a fully automated system with three-sensor technology that lets us customise platelet and leukocyte concentrations for your condition. The blood draw, processing and injection are all completed as an outpatient treatment in our office in a single visit.

How much does regenerative medicine cost?

The cost depends on how severe your condition is and how many joints or areas you want treated. Dr. Ahmad and his team can give you a precise figure after your initial examination and review of your diagnostic findings.

Is PRP covered by insurance?

PRP and stem cell therapy are generally not covered by insurance, so these treatments are self-pay. We offer competitive pricing and financing options through CareCredit and Advance Care, with low monthly payments and interest-free plans for qualifying patients.

How long does it take for PRP to work, and how long does it last?

On average, patients notice improvement around six weeks after treatment, though some see results sooner. Because PRP supports tissue healing rather than masking pain, relief can be long-lasting, often measured in years rather than months, although individual results vary with the condition treated and your overall health.

Do you prescribe opioids for chronic pain?

Our approach is non-surgical and non-opioid. We focus on interventional and regenerative procedures that treat the source of pain and restore function, rather than managing pain with long-term opioid medication.

Which areas do you serve from the Fort Mill office?

The Fort Mill office serves Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill, Indian Land, Lake Wylie, Baxter Village and the wider York and Lancaster County area. Patients from south Charlotte and Ballantyne also find Fort Mill convenient via I-77.

The benefits of regenerative medicine, including PRP and stem cell therapy, have not been reviewed or approved by the FDA.

Stop Waiting. Start Feeling Better.

New patient appointments are available in Fort Mill every Tuesday morning. Non-surgical, non-opioid care, no hospital facility fees, and a specialist who treats the cause of your pain.
